Using the Flexibility
One of the things I love most about the weddings I have designed at the Bharatiya Temple is how different they are from one another.
Some are traditional Hindu weddings, rich with ritual, where every element from the Ganesh setup to the Jaimala garlands has to be exactly right. Some are interracial and fusion weddings, where one family is deeply familiar with a temple wedding and the other is experiencing it for the first time. Those celebrations are some of the most meaningful work I do, because the design has to make both sides feel at home in the same room.
Designing for a fusion couple at the Bharatiya Temple means honoring the Hindu tradition fully while building in a visual language that welcomes a partner and a family who may be new to all of it. I have done this many times, and it is exactly the kind of cultural fluency that only comes from experience, not from a portfolio of photographs.
For Large South Asian and Cultural Weddings
This is some of my favorite work to do here. A grand Walima reception that fills the ballroom. A Hindu wedding with a full fresh floral mandap scaled to the volume of the room.
